报告题目:Rice Culture Versus Wheat Culture in Cooperative Decision-Making: The Moderating Roles of Money

报告内容摘要:

Cooperation is important to the success of organizations. We demonstrated via public goods experiments that the cooperative behavior of rice culture (wheat culture) was more (less) when they were primed by money reminders. In Study 1, participants from rice regions and wheat regions were assigned in pairs (of strangers or friends) to public good games without money prime. The results revealed that in friend condition, the rice-region participants cooperate significantly more than the wheat-region participants. In Studies 2-3, we presented the moderator for the cultural effect. Study 2 demonstrated that when counting money, rice-region participants cooperated with strangers significantly less than wheat-region participants, while participants from two cultures cooperate with friends equally. In Study 3, we reconfirmed that this activation of money thinking magnified the effect of rice culture on cooperation with a money prime. Moreover, rice-region participants cooperated with friends significantly more than wheat-region participants when thinking about monetary loss. Together, our findings contribute to the literature by helping to (a) integrate the field of culture, money and cooperation, (b) resolve mixed findings regarding the rice theory, (c) identify the condition for rice theory, thereby allowing a deep understanding of Chinese culture.

吴伟炯为浙江财经大学工商管理学院讲师,有经济学博士后、管理学博士、心理学硕士等跨学科专业背景,主要研究方向为跨文化管理、积极心理学以及行为决策。20多篇研究论著发表在多个学科的著名学术期刊上,如《心理学报》、《经济研究》、《中国工业经济》、《Frontiers in Psychology》等,在国际会议上报告论文5篇。曾任美国托莱多大学访问学者,美国Flyhigh集团高级顾问(硅谷)。曾独立为地方政府、中大型企业、中小学校提供过培训和咨询服务。目前是行为经济学与实验经济学应用工程师(高级),中国管理研究国际学会会员,以及国际经济心理学研究协会会员。
