报告题目:Ex Ante and Ex Post Subcontracting between Two Competitive Bidders

       We consider a first-price sealed-bid procurement auction between two capacity constrained bidders, each of whom is not able to fulfill the auctioned project from a buyer due to the capacity constraint. We consider two kinds of capacity cooperation between the two competitive bidders: ex ante subcontracting and ex post subcontracting. In the former case, two bidders first bargain over the capacity cooperation contract and then compete with each other by bidding for the buyer's project. In the latter case, two bidders first submit bids to the buyer and then bargain over the capacity cooperation contract. By ex ante or ex post subcontracting, two bidders form a co-opetition relationship: they compete to win the auction but cooperate through capacity subcontracting. We find that bidders' subcontracting timing has a fundamental impact on the two bidders' competitive bidding behavior and profits. Both bidders will benefit from the ex ante subcontracting, and submit a higher equilibrium bid price, compared to the case without subcontracting. The ex post subcontracting, however, will lower the equilibrium bid price and may hurt the bidder with capacity advantage when bidders' relative bargaining power is not consistent with the relative capacity advantage.

报告题目:Understanding Mobile Health Service Use: An Investigation of Routine and Emergency Use Intentions

This study theorizes two information system (IS) use behaviors associated with individuals’ behavioral intention of mobile health (mHealth) services. Motivation theory is adopted as our overarching theoretical lens to investigate the influence of individuals’ different motivation incentives on individuals’ emergency and routine use intentions of mHealth services. We also investigate the influences of technological and psychological antecedents on extrinsic and intrinsic motivations. Based on the results, we find that perceived usefulness enhances emergency and routine use intentions of mHealth services. By contrast, perceived enjoyment positively influences routine use intention. In addition, we find that perceived source credibility, perceived service availability, and perceived diagnosticity influence perceived usefulness (extrinsic motivation), whereas perceived autonomy, perceived competence, perceived relatedness, and curiosity affect perceived enjoyment (intrinsic motivation). This research offers insights for IS literature on understanding mHealth emergency and routine use behaviors.

报告题目:Understanding the Symbolic Meaning of Social Media

With the widespread use of social media (e.g., microblogs, instant messaging) for multiple tasks (e.g., socialization, news subscription, finance, online shopping), social media is increasingly embedded in our daily lives. Practitioners believe that more complex and advanced functions of social media lead to better performance across different contexts. However, in reality the situation may be more complex. Prior research suggests that a thorough understanding of technology requires consideration of both functional capabilities and the symbolism of the technology. Considering these two issues, the latter has been much less adequately addressed compared to the former. This study seeks to address this gap by discussing the subjective and abstract meaning symbolized by a social media tool. It develops a theoretical model that incorporates the technological features of a social media tool and the social ties users have on the media as two facilitators of symbolic meaning. Subjective and objective data collected from Weibo support the proposed model. Together, this study contributes to a richer understanding of the symbolic meaning of social media, how symbolic meaning is developed and the impact of symbolic meaning on users’ behaviors.

报告题目:A Fashion Mass Customization Supply Chain with Consumer Returns: Quick Response and Supply Chain Contracts

In the field of fashion supply chain management, the quick response strategy has become a business trend that is widely applied all over the world, which is a result of the fierce competition in the fashion industry and can directly help fashion companies reduce the forecast error. In the meantime, in order to maintain the existing consumers and to win more consumers, the consumer returns policy has also been widely emphasized by various fashion companies. We therefore explore a fashion supply chain system, which adopts a mass customization program and allows unconditional consumer returns. We discuss the impacts brought by the quick response strategy. Moreover, the use of incentive alignment contracts in coordinating the mass customization supply chain is also examined. Managerial insights are generated.
