报告内容摘要:

Trust is a critical concept in entrepreneurship study, but the concept remains elusive due to its complex nature. Previous research has portrayed entrepreneurial trust as a monolithic contrast, primarily relying on trust propensity measured using survey instruments and scenarios. In this paper, we differentiate between two key aspects of entrepreneurial trust: general trust and experience-based trust, and investigate how they influence firms innovation performance. Based on the theory of innovation development, we further identify two important mediators between entrepreneurial trust and firms innovation performance, which are entrepreneursdiscovery skills and firms exploratory partnerships. We adopt a mixed-method approach and integrate survey and behavioral economic game experiment as the research methodology. We collected 354 data from local entrepreneurs in SMEs and startup companies in Singapore and tested our model using structural equational modeling. Results show that entrepreneurs experience-based trust significantly influences entrepreneurs discovery skills, not the general trust. Entrepreneurs discovery skills fully mediate the relationship between entrepreneurs experience-based trust and firmspartnership. Firms exploratory partnership partially mediates the relationship between entrepreneurs discovery skills and firms innovation performance. Implications will be discussed in the paper.
